This presentation will highlight information that will enhance the practice of occupational therapy practitioners and students when working with the veteran population. The presentation will provide an insight into military culture, highlighting essential considerations, addressing unique challenges this population faces, and promoting holistic well-being and care.
Objectives:
Following this course, attendees will be able to:
- Identify effective occupational therapy strategies to enhance functional independence with the veteran population.
- Demonstrate an increased awareness of the challenges this population face and how to promote psychological well-being throughout treatment.
- Understand the importance of interdisciplinary care to facilitate meaningful engagement and re-integration when working with the veteran population.
