- Identify the roles and responsibilities of the various professionals who provide low vision rehabilitation.
- Recognize the functional deficits associated with common low vision diagnoses.
- Describe intervention strategies used to facilitate independence in daily tasks for those with low vision. order to enhance culturally responsive practice.
Speaker Bios:
Jennifer Gendeman OTD, OTR/L, SCLV, CLVT – Jennifer graduated with her doctorate in occupational therapy from Washington University in St. Louis in 2010. Jennifer is a Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) and has an additional Specialty Certification in Low Vision (SCLV) from the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Jennifer completed the graduate certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation for Occupational Therapists through the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Jennifer is passionate about helping older adults maximize the use of their remaining vision.
Kathy Livingston OTR/L, CLVT – Kathy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas in 1994. She is a Certified Low Vision Therapist (CLVT) and completed the graduate certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation for Occupational Therapists through the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Kathy spent the first 28 years of her career working as a generalist in acute care, acute rehab, outpatient, and home health before specializing in low vision.
