Letter from the Editors
Dear OOTA Community,
Spring represents a season of energy, renewal, and celebration, which is what we have captured through this edition of the OOTA newsletter. There are so many unique opportunities occurring across the state, and we are excited to share them through this newsletter.
This month, April, we celebrate the impact that occupational therapy practitioners (OTPs) have throughout the state. Whether it is in schools, hospitals, mental health spaces, rehabilitation, academia, or emerging practice areas, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students continue to demonstrate creativity, resilience, and commitment to meaningful participation for those who we serve daily. We encourage you to reach out and share your story with the editors and writers of the OOTA to have your voice heard in the newsletter space. We would love for you to tell us your story – we’d love to showcase the passion and pride for the work you do every day! This issue we highlight unique opportunities that are occurring throughout the state. This year’s leadership team worked to put together OOTA Winterfest, a ‘mini-conference’ where members could gather and learn from one another while earning continuing education credit toward their upcoming license renewals. Our esteemed physical rehabilitation specialist, Alyssa DeCarlo returns with another edition of “Bathroom Buddies” to discuss crucial equipment to help make showering and bathing safe at home!. A run club program at a juvenile correction facility highlights the far-reaching impact of OTPs on an underserved community. Students were able to engage with clinicians through the Student Conclave, and a Student Occupational Therapy Association from the University of Findlay highlighted the power of students within OOTA. Our in-house advocacy expert Erika Eustaquio shares some exciting news about OOTA’s upcoming Hill Day on May 12.
Thank you for being a part of OOTA. Your engagement, volunteer time, and enthusiasm continues to move this organization forward. We hope you feel connected, inspired and proud to be part of this community.
We sure are!
Kelly and Nathan
