Course Description

Throughout my career as an occupational therapy practitioner, I found myself questioning what was possible beyond becoming a highly skilled clinician. While I valued clinical expertise, I felt an itch to continue growing and a desire to use the creative and innovative side of my OT brain to explore opportunities that embraced the holistic, client-centered nature of occupational therapy and expanded beyond the constraints of traditional healthcare models. With the encouragement of trusted colleagues, I began pursuing possibilities before I had all the answers and learned valuable lessons along the way.

Now, I want to be that colleague for others—the person who creates space to imagine what could be possible and recognize the skills, creativity, and expertise needed to create a career that reflects a personal vision. This session is an opportunity to envision what’s possible. Through guided brainstorming, reflection, real-world examples, and discussion, participants will explore approaches such as professional service, civic engagement, innovative models of care, and strategic communication of OT’s value to expand their impact.

If you are looking for encouragement to think outside the box, take a chance on a new idea, or see your OT skills in a different light, I hope you’ll join me.
